Existential-Humanistic Case Formulation and Evidence-Based Practice Certificate
Overview
The Existential-Humanistic Case Formulation and Evidence-Based Practice Certificate Program is a 12-month certificate program providing in-depth training on existential-humanistic case formulation and treatment planning and the evidence-based foundations of existential-humanistic therapy. The first part of the certificate provides instruction and training on the approach to existential-humanistic case formulation and treatment planning developed by Louis Hoffman and Heatherlyn Cleare-Hoffman (APA Books, 2025). This approach was developed to be both comprehensive and flexible, allowing adaptation to the particular needs of the setting and individual client. The second part of the course provides instruction on how to demonstrate one is practicing consistent with evidence-based practice when utilizing existential-humanistic therapy and the case formulation and treatment planning model covered in the first half of the course.
Note: This program does provide training in existential-humanistic therapy, including an overview and training on the primary existential-humanistic interventions or stances. However, it is not a comprehensive training in psychotherapy. For those interested in a certificate in the existential-humanistic psychotherapy, we recommend the program offered through the Existential-Humanistic Institute (EHI). The Existential-Humanistic Case Formulation and Evidence-Based Practice Certificate Program complements EHI’s certificate program through focusing on case formulation, treatment planning, and supporting existential-humanistic interventions.
