Louis Hoffman, PhD
Dr. Hoffman is recognized as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association for his contributions to the profession of psychology. Fellow status is given to professionals who have demonstrated unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field of psychology. Six divisions of the American Psychological Association also have recognized him as a fellow: The Society for General Psychology (APA Division 1), the Society for the Psychology of Creativity, Aesthetics, and the Arts (APA Division 10), the Society for Humanistic Psychology (APA Division 32), the Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality (APA Division 36), the Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict, and Violence (APA Division 48), and Division 52 (International Psychology). He is also the 2021 recipient of the Rollo May Award of the Society for Humanistic Psychology. In addition to his writing pursuits, Dr. Hoffman also teaches and provides supervision. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Denver, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and Saybrook University. He is an affiliate instructor at the Existential-Humanistic Institute and provides training and supervision through the International Institute for Existential-Humanistic Psychology (IIEHP). Dr. Hoffman is a founder of IIEHP, which offers training and supervision on existential-humanistic psychology in Southeast Asia.
Dr. Hoffman is committed to community service and regularly volunteers time serving his local community and professional organizations. He serves on the board of The Humanitarian Alliance. He has been active in advocating for people experiencing homelessness and individuals from marginalized groups.
Throughout most of his career, Dr. Hoffman has been active in providing therapy and supervision. He is currently in private practice in Colorado Springs where he sees clients and provides supervision. In addition to being a licensed psychologist in Colorado, he is also licensed in Iowa and California (inactive status) and credentialed with PsyPACT, which allows him to see clients in other states that are also part of PsyPACT.
