Brittany Varisco, MA, MS

Brittany Varisco, MA, MS, is a doctoral student in the PsyD program at the Graduate School of Professional Psychology, University of Denver. After earning her bachelor’s degree in counseling and human development at the United States Air Force Academy, Brittany served on active duty as an instructor pilot in the Air Force, flying combat airlift, medical evacuation, and humanitarian missions in the C-17 Globemaster. While on active duty, she earned her Master of Science in general psychology from Capella University. In 2013, she returned to the United States Air Force Academy as an evaluator pilot where she instructed cadets in the Powered Flight Program (T-53 aircraft) and coached the Air Force’s Collegiate Precision Flying Team (T-41 and T-51 aircraft). In 2018, she took a leap of faith and left active duty to join the Air Force Reserves and pursue her PsyD. She found her path to psychology, and more specifically existential, humanistic, and transpersonal psychology, had been paved by her lived experiences both in the military and in her personal life. Her clinical interests include trauma, health psychology, psycho-oncology, attachment theory, spirituality, substance use/addiction, and advocacy. To date, her clinical work has included long term relational and existential-humanistic psychotherapy, crisis response and evaluation in the emergency department, individual and group therapy in cancer treatment facilities, trauma-focused interventions in forensic settings, and psychological and neuropsychological assessment. Brittany is passionate about student outreach and mentorship as well as expanding exposure to the world of existential, humanistic, and transpersonal psychology in undergraduate and graduate programs.
